I met Kathy and Erika with KB Kakes when Unique Design Studio, Footstone Photography, and Adore Weddings had their big “Reveal” party this past February and liked the two of them right away. Some may say it was their amazing cake truffles that swayed me but I like to believe it was their friendly personalities, sharp sense of humor, and their friendly demeanor that sold me. So, when they approached me last April to join Masterpiece Weddings, Powers Photography, Lisa Vega Studios, Jay’s DJs to design their cake tasting at Marios I just had to say yes. Little did I know, May 5th would turn out to be one of the hottest days the month had seen in years. At least the “tropical” theme fit the 94 degree temperature and fun was had by all. Okay, maybe the cake truffles had a little something to do with me saying yes. More links are here .

How sweet it is – a cake tasting

On March 6 the Event Divas created the decor for Posh Pastry’s “The Sweet Life” cake tasting. This was our first time working in the Hippodrome basement. It has a cool laid back “loungey” kind of vibe which made it really fun to design.

Besides the Event Divas, Footstone Photography was snapping pictures, Unique Design Studios were showing off their creative invitation designs, while brides who were greeted by Adore enjoyed food by Teranova Catering. Lynda Pasteur, the event coordinator at the Hipp, was so easy and pleasant to work with so if you are looking for this type of a venue for your next event give her a call at 352-373-5968. It can hold 176 but if you include a dance floor 130 is probably closer to it’s max. Check back soon to see all of the pics Footstone took at the event.

Posh Pastry approached us last December and asked us if we would design her cake tasting this March. As they say, “time flies when you are having fun” and now we are just 2 weeks away. Amy with Adore gave us the idea to use the Hippodrome Theatre’s basement. I had never heard of anyone having an event there so I was suprised at how cool it was when we took the tour. It has that “lounge” feel to it and it holds about 175 so it was perfect for what we were looking for and something different for the brides to see. There are some wonderful vendors involved and I have some fun ideas to bring to the design table. Hint: feathers will be flying ; )

The big reveal – Footstone remodels

We just finished the big “Reveal” for Unique Design Studio, Footstone Photography, and Adore. They did an amazing job remodeling their office to fit their personalities. We especially love Footstone’s plum/purple colored wall (my favorite color)! It is truly divalicious. Hmmmmmmmmm. Okay focus. Solutions Bridal Expo

We had such an amazing time at Solutions Bridal Expo! So many brides so little time and some really wonderful vendors. We had so much fun designing our 16 ft booth! When we approached John about figuring out a way to bring a tree inside he was amused. 2 days later he had it all figured out and you can see how amazing it was. John, you ROCK!!!! Now, we know the sky is the limit for what we can design thanks to him.

Where did the year go?!

Wow, where did 2009 go?! It seems like yesterday we were making “to do” lists, writing down goals, and dreaming about The Event Divas. Fast forward to a year later after surpassing our goals and more dreams than we ever thought coming true here we are living our passion and still in love with the business : ) Oprah always preaches about “dreaming big”, we just did not realize how well that really worked. If we did not have witness’ people would think we made it up. Of course we have a lot of people to thank besides our own hard working selves. Thank you to our friends, family, vendors, competitors, and especially our clients for all of the amazing gifts of support, patience, trust, sharing, teachings, etc! We are humbled. We really could not have accomplished half of what we have without you so we are graciously giving you a well deserved standing ovation!

Extreme Home Makeover – That’s a wrap!

Amy with Adore Events and Weddings called me on a Friday night and asked me if I would handle to the decor for the Extreme Makeover Wrap party that was being held on at Sharabs lounge. Who in their right mind would say no even if it meant that I had less than 72 hours to pull it together. The biggest challenge was ordering the flowers over the weekend for a Monday delivery.
With the help of two fresh flower companies and a lot of assistance from my husband, stepdaughter, son, his friend, and my lovely sister we were able to pull it off. Of course I will let you be the judge.
After the work was completed we had a blast dancing until well after midnight with some really incredibly fun and interesting people…and yes, Ty and Paulie along with some other familiar faces were there : ) By the way, Jaimie with Serendipity Phogoraphy was such a trouper to take all of the pictures after working endless hours at the Extreme Makeover site. Thank you Jaimie!!!

Cattle Baron’s Ball – A Denim and Diamonds Gala

I am so excited to finally have a venue for the American Cancer Society’s Cattle Barons’ Ball!!! For those of you who would like to support a good cause while having a ton of fun lasso your partner and come join us at the Museum of Natural History on the evening of June 5. There will be dining and dancing to live music complete with a live and silent auction. If dancing isn’t your thing then come hang out with us in the Saloon and try your hand at gambling for a cure. As the designing of this event progresses I promise to share some sneak peaks to tease you into joining the crowd so stay tuned.

Today I am thankful for all of the friends and family who have supported me over the years and for the ones who have entered my life in just the past few weeks. I feel truly blessed and honored. There are too many names to list but you know who you are. Thank you!!!!
Last night my sister was gracious as usual and assisted me with my web site. Since we are beginners (and by beginners I mean preschool equivalent at least I am)we would welcome any gentle suggestions that may improve the site. I am still adding vendors and their links and will be changing the “home” page to reflect what we really do. There has been some confusion with the wedding planners in the area which reminded me how important it is to be clear.

Top Secret Project Revealed

Whether you are a fan of Twilight or enjoy a good dramatic wedding, we have put together a wedding shoot just for you.
The Concept:
Due to a slight obsession, {Unique Designs} wanted to create a Twilight wedding invitation, an idea which blossomed into a full concept design and shoot. The intent was not to replicate Bella & Edward’s wedding, which was actually an Anne of Green Gables dress and was filled with white flowers, but to make another wedding style based on the mood and concept of Twilight. To acknowledge Edward’s personality, we chose a dramatic look with bold flowers, strong reds, and splashes of black feathers. To incorporate Bella, we wanted to take a vintage twist which can be seen in the creams, vintage brooches, and antique lace.
